“One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress other birds & horses.” – Dale Carnegie
Rejecting Rejection.
The trick or treat attitude.
Everyone loves trick or treating on Halloween. I have great memories of it. The mission was pretty simple- get as much candy as possible before it got dark. We ran from house to house gathering candy. On occasion, we approached a house, rang the doorbell, and nothing happened.
In that situation, what do most kids do? They move on to the next house. “Let’s go. Come on.” And they’re down the block to the next house.
They don’t wonder why the owners didn’t answer the door. They don’t take it personally. They don’t over think it. They don’t think they’re wearing the wrong costume.
They would never consider quitting and going home. No way. Kids observe the world as it is.
As we grow older, our self-esteem takes a few hits and we start to lose a little motivation and inspiration. We can begin to think that everything that happens to us is about us. It’s not.
We have to regain that inspiration and motivation we always had
You cannot be successful in life without hearing no. When you hear no … it’s usually not about you. Accept it. Don’t over think it. Move on as quickly as possible.
Run to the next house, sale, appointment, date, interview, job or goal.
And the next one.
And the next one.
Because in life … that’s where the candy is.
Keep Going.
