I wake up early. Usually between 4:50AM and 5:10AM. I live in Los Angeles and work with the stock market on east coast time. I love what I do and I know it because its one of the few things I would wake up that early for. I start my day with a workout- usually weights but sometimes cardio.
Lately, it’s been getting harder to get up and go. Maybe this happens to you as well?
Its early. I’m tired. Maybe I can do an afternoon workout I think? (Ive never done an afternoon workout in the last 3 years.) This is a lie. BIG lie.
So about two weeks ago I was listening to a podcast and I heard this quote, “Move your ass and your brain will follow.” I love quotes. And this is not exactly the most eloquent quote Ive ever heard, but it’s so damn effective. Ive been using it the past 2 weeks and it works. I have it on a post-it in my bathroom mirror.
Why does it work? Because thinking and procrastinating and rationalizing are stressful and take energy. It requires no thinking on my part to just get dressed. Move. Get dressed. Where are my sneakers? Grab a drink and a quick bite. Keys? Good. Now lets go. Its simple.
Success really is simply showing up.
